Aljira Emerge

Dear Artists,

This year, Aljira, a Center for Contemporary Art proudly celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Aljira Emerge. Since 1999, Aljira Emerge has provided intensive professional development opportunities to advance the careers of nearly 250 artists. The program has enabled emerging and mid-career artists to organize, plan, sustain and elevate their careers.

In our effort to build upon the success of Aljira Emerge, broaden its impact, and continue to provide exemplary services for the professional development of artists, this year we will focus on two new initiatives: E-merge and EmergeNEXT.

E-merge, an alumni website and online community will provide Emerge alumni with a tangible platform for networking with fellow alumni, marketing their work, and learning about opportunities to exhibit their work. EmergeNEXT will offer thematically-focused seminars in response to Emerge alumni requests for advanced professional development opportunities and continued career guidance. To enable a broad cross-section of artists to acquire the skills to plan, manage, and grow their professional careers in the arts, EmergeNEXT will be open to Emerge alumni as well as artists who have not participated in the program.

We look forward to sharing more information about the launch of E-merge and EmergeNEXT and encourage you to join our mailing list to keep abreast of these exciting developments.

In addition, we look forward to welcoming you to the Aljira Emerge 10 exhibition that will open in Summer 2009.

The next Aljira Emerge application deadline will be in early 2010.
